About Our Project

We decided to research this project because we found there was very little documented about the myths and legends of West Limerick, apart from that which was documented in the West Limerick Journals over the years. We first visited the local Library in Newcastle West. From there we visited many various and interesting people in West Limerick. Most of these visits revealed great stories about the Myths and Legends of the West. We say Míle Buíochas to the 'story-tellers', historians and writers of the West for sharing their lore with us. We have attempted to write these wonderful stories as they were written and told to us on tape, using the actual language used by the men and women who shared their time with us during our research.

We are thrilled to have collected so many stories that might have been lost had nobody written them down.

To our friends all over Europe and indeed our friends from all over the world, especiallyall faithful 'HAUNTED' followers of MidLink Magazine, we say
Fáilte.. Welcome.. We hope that ourproject will give you as much pleasure as it did us. They say that fromsmall acorns grow big Oak trees. We as Irish students have uncovered themagical world of Myths and Legends in our own locality, we have learned so much and yet we have so much more to uncover. We are Irish, but we are also
the future of Europe. Our Irishness has made us proud to be European
citizens. Our Irish Language and traditions and culture and heritage is
special. MyEurope has shown us that we can be proud to be Irish-Europeans
also.

We hope you enjoy our project.

Le Meas,

Na Daltaí Ghaelscoil Ó Doghair
