About Our Project

To our friends all over Europe and indeed our friends from all over the world, especially all faithful 'HAUNTED' followers of MidLink Magazine, we say Fáilte.. Welcome..We hope that our project will give you as much pleasure as it did us. They say that from small acorns grow big Oak trees. We as Irish students have uncovered the magical world of Myths and Legends in our own locality, we have learned so much and yet we have so much more to uncover. We bet that you will also! We are Irish, but we are also the future, adult citizens of Europe and the World. Our Irishness has made us proud to be European citizens. Our Irish Language, traditions, culture and heritage is very special. The MyEurope project and the MidLink Magazine, Virtual Haunted House project, which connects our project around the world, has shown us that there really are no human or technological boundaries to divide us all, and that we are all alike in many, many ways. Bígí linn !! Come join us !!

We decided to research this project because we found there was very little documented about the myths and legends of West Limerick, apart from that which was documented in the West Limerick Journals over the years. We first visited the local Library in Newcastle West. From there we visited many various and interesting people in West Limerick. Most of these visits revealed great stories about the Myths and Legends of the West. We say Míle Buíochas to the 'story-tellers', historians and writers of the West for sharing their lore with us. We have attempted to write these wonderful stories as they were written and told to us on tape, using the actual language used by the men and women who shared their time with us during our research.

We are thrilled to have collected so many stories that might have been lost had nobody written them down.

We also intend to translate these stories into Irish for the whole school and two Libraries have requested a full copy of the project for future reference.. We will be famous… NOT !!!

We will also scan in the pictures of West Limerick and the areas mentioned in the project and this should be ready in a week or so. We have already designed the outline of the web pages.

We hope you enjoy our project.

Le Meas,

Rang a Sé.
