All Children Participate in Competitions. The Fun is Having Great 'Craic' with Your Friends. |
'Competition
is the Spice of Life', or so the saying goes In Gaelscoil, taking
part in competitions is as natural as the way in which the students learn
to enjoy their national language. Competition allows each and every child
to develop a healthy self-confidence from an early age. In Junior Infants,
the children get their first experience of the 'Stage' at Gaelscoil's Christmas
concert. This is followed by poetry recitation and story-telling competitions
in 'Féile Luimní, in Spring. At times, the infant classes participate in
All-Ireland competitions at Slóadh and along with Art competitions at both
local and National level, the first year is indeed a very busy, but thoroughly
enjoyable one for our infants. Confidence building comes through the 'Fun'
element of competition. Because all children at Gaelscoil participate at
all levels of compitition, the infants quickly see that the best way to
enjoy themselves is to have 'FUN'. They learn from one another and they
enjoy working together in preparing for compitition..

Winning
isn't everything, but Gaelscoil has a proud tradition in all areas of competition
and our successes to date are unequalled! Our students know this and they sense
the pride which we have in our school and in our team. Parents also sense this
pride in Gaelscoil and play a vital role in preparing children for competition.
In Gaelscoil, we have learned to use competition as a means of furthering our
students' wider education. We believe that we have succeeded. Come along and
see for yourself. 'Ni neart go cur le Chéile'
